Jamaica gets more money, IDB and World Bank commits a total of US$1.02B for Jamaica !

Inter-American Development Bank/World Bank Statement on Extended Fund Facility with Jamaica

  • The World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) recognize the decision by the management of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to present to its Board its proposal for a new Extended Fund Facility with Jamaica. This is an important reflection of that institution’s confidence in Jamaica’s macroeconomic stabilization program.

  1. Hmm….according to your link above and : http://jamaica-gleaner.com/latest/article.php?id=43952

the funds to be allocated are US$510 million each.

    510 + 510 = 1,020 million = 1.02 billion; 1.02 billion =/= 1.2 billion.

I’m assuming you made a mistake unless you know of either entity providing an additional US$180 million.

Combined with the IMF’s US$958 million then US$1.978 billion in loans would be available to Jamaica between 2013 and 2017. I don’t see how that would really help other than kicking the can down the road again for another 4 years so that people like jay and pensioners and the poor can be lulled into another sense of false security about having a “stable” exchange rate propped up by borrowed money that has to be paid back at some point. Then of course 2017 comes around and the loan agreements come to end and Jamaicans run around trying to get as many US dollars as they can as the Jamaican dollar slides again as the mirage reserves of borrowed money disappear….again.

    • Thanks for the correction

    • No man when JLP is returned to power they will be left to deal with the real problems

      • Hmmmm…is this the desired outcome you have so deliberately/consistently canvass for on your blog? The people have spoken. They do not want a party in power that actively and very publicly, supports a Narco/Gun Trafficker. Deal with in silence as YOUR party is destined to be an “Opposition Party” for the next two decades.

You guys had a very capable individual (David Panton) who could have been at the helm of the your Party today, had it not been for the internal strife, backstabbing and the insecure members that forced him to flee our shores. Good luck with the likes of Vaz .Robertson and Warmington.

        • The pnp gave a number of contracts to Dudus, the people of Jamaican knew this and they elected the pnp. Test, Jamaican people voted for nice times, that was the title of the pnp’s song on the radio. The Eat a food government is loved by the people. Dr.Davies called Willie Haggart a decent citizen, the man was no where near decent. Test just look at Operation Pride and its benefactors

        • You know Test, I would ask Lipton for links to these contracts supposedly provided to Dudus under the PNP (as I know the newspapers and the OCG website did list details of contracts provided to Dudus’ front company by the government since 2007) but I suspect he won’t be able to furnish any such links, or at best will mention how Dudus got contracts through KSAC (despite that body being run by Desmond McKenzie and with a JLP majority during the PNP’s time in government before 2007).

Sad how the youth of today seem unable to discern that both the PNP and JLP are two sides of the same rotten JLPNP coin and the what Dudus was to the JLP, Haggert was to the PNP. Instead it seems to be all about ways to whitewash one side or another and to pretend that we have angels in our midst in the JLPNP LOL!

I can’t begin to imagine the cognitive dissonance that would come if they bothered to read the US embassy cables recently released from Wikileaks (as the Kissinger cables) which describe Pearnel Charles as a “thug” and Seaga as “no angel” and Manley in very unflattering terms and describe his and Seaga’s hold over various gunmen.

Yes, certainly the Americans must be lying! [Your favourite politician here, be it Michael Manley, Edward Seaga, Bruce Golding, PJ Patterson, etc] being associated with gunmen? Ridiculous! Lol!

  2. Is like when Test see anything green d man turn Red Ops I mean Orange 🙂

Test seems like you forget that it was this blog which was giving the breaking news, the stories and all the links on that case (Dudus), much to your delight.

Go back and check , its all for there to see .

    • Yearning for good old days Jay, when your blog was a good read and not an extension of the green party. Keep it up, I might have to go look for your good friend Wayne……where is Wayne anyway?

      • What is interesting is very few of my blog entries are “bigging” up the JLP, just check it out. Instead the entries have been very critical of the ruling party.

Test seems to have a hard time seeing, (man only see orange) the difference.

Test that has always been my approach, the only difference between then and now is “who is the ruling party”.

        Test it 🙂

        • Mr. Jon, I know for a fact that Pearnel Charles is no angel. A number of my older colleagues have told me stories about him. I doubt you remember his famous statement about land, Jon unlike you I will not discuss the deeds of these politicians, because they like to sue and I really don’t have the time to waste.

        • And like clockwork poor little Lipton cannot provide even one link to a single contract provided by the central government (as opposed to say….the Desmond McKenzie run KSAC) to any company associated with Dudus before 2007.

You don’t waste your time not because you are afraid these politicians will sue, rather you fail to answer questions because you are incapable of answering them. Providing a link to a contract provided by the central government to a Dudus-linked company before 2007 could not possibly result in a lawsuit, so your stalling is only a signal of your ignorance and the fact that you are just repeating hearsay (that is doing the same thing which you claim you won’t do for fear of a lawsuit).

What nobody ever seems ready to explain is, if the PNP when it was in government was busy giving contracts to Dudus’ front company or companies, why was Dudus so heavily associated with the JLP? Is it that the JLP then is a subsidiary of the PNP? It doesn’t seem to make much sense for a government formed by the PNP to be giving contracts to Dudus’ company when they were so many other (less powerful but still very dangerous) dons, some of whom definitely were picking up contracts at some point when the PNP was in power (presumably since they were associated with the PNP) like Skeng Don (with his Black Brothers Ltd company getting construction contracts from the Housing Agency of Jamaica – and for that a link is EASY to provide), Willie Haggert, Zeeks, George Phang, Bulbie, etc (just to name a few of the dons aligned to the PNP, some of whom were picking up contracts through their “legit” companies).

And given that contracts didn’t start being given out in 1989, then if it actually was that the various PNP administrations were giving contracts to Dudus between 1989 and 2007, does that mean JLP administrations were giving contracts to various PNP-affiliated dons before 1989 and after 2007?

  3. There is so much dirt on these politicians that if you put them all in a pen and turn on the water on ” all a dem”, you end up with a pig sty 🙂

    • I find that statement to be insulting to pigs everywhere and insist you apologize to our hoofed friends….:D
