14 months after the return of the PNP to power, Jamaicans are once again losing hope in the ability of the Government to improve the lives of the Jamaican people.
Every April the electorates wait to hear how much the government will be asking them to pay to keep the country running and 6 months after April, we can wait again for the government to announce a new set of tax measures to compensate for the failures of the first revenue measure. We had JDX three years ago and though the PNP paid lip service to the move and the then government failed to put in place polices so there could be some measurable benefits, we have the new PNP government coming and doing the very same thing.
This time they have decided to employ a oversight committee to monitor and I assume report on the progress being made to ensure that this time around, we can reap measurable rewards.
One has to ask the very obvious question, what is the purpose of all the government consultants . In most private sector companies we employ consultant for specific needs and we set out some deliverables that are time sensitive. Once that period is over, the consultant issues his report and we either implement his ideas or we may choose to use him to help us implement these ideas.
In government however, we seem to keep consultants for as long as the party is in power and for the most part, there is no tangible benefits from his/her tenure. How much longer are we going to continue this nonsense?
The people are fast losing hope, we turned away from the JLP and turned to the PNP and what has been the difference?
The situation has gotten worse so what’s the alternative?
We need to be careful because the alternative I fear, will not be nice.

Some just asked me ” Why does Portia keep say as Prime Minister, xyz” ?
My response ” She needs to remind us who is supposed to be in charge, as so often we don’t know if we have a Prime Minister. We know one was selected, but given the lack of direction, she has to remind us along the way that she is the Prime Minister ( by default”.
Maybe she needs to remind herself also.
I have been saying this for a while. The Simpson Miller administration should resign like the Bulgarian Government. Portia doesn’t serve a purpose
