Paulwell, Lisa and Damion ordered home from Trinidad by the Prime Minister ?

Word is the three who were all enjoying bacchanal and consuming VAT 19 and Pepsi, down in Trinidad Carnival, while Jamaicans where being force feed ” bitter/poison” medicine, were ordered home by the Prime Minister.

The questions we have are as follows:

  1. When was the PM made aware of their travel plans ?
  2. When did the PM know about the letter of intent that had been agreed between her Finance Minister and the IMF team. Was this before or after the trio left ?
  3. When the PM decided to speak to the nation, was she aware that the trio had already left?
  4. When did the PM know of the massive tax package and why did she not order their return to Jamaica, so it at least appeared that we were all in this thing together?
  5. Did the PM recall the trio because she was embarrassed by the talk of her not demonstrating commitment to the cause, by her having these guys partying while Jamaicans were being given bitter/poison medicine.
  6. Is Portia really a good leader ?

  1. I honestly cannot begrudge these guys the opportunity to enjoy themselves and de-stress. The reality is that not because a person comes to work everyday and on time, they are actually productive and provides value to the “workplace”. We need to be more results oriented. Symbolism has its place, but for it to be effective, it has to be principled, which simply means it cannot be coerced.

  2. A Leader cannot be expeted to know what people are going to do ahead of time. The critical question is what is done when they are made aware.

I don’t think PSM is a good leader.

The Trinidadian trio should have read the “tea leaves” and realized that this was not the time to be frolicking when bitter medicine is being administered back home. But then again, our politicians never share in the sacrifices they ask the people to make – basically animal farm in practice.

If she called then back, she was right – a demotion should follow.

    • Beg to differ. “Leader” Good or otherwise is RESPONSIBLE for the actions of her subordinates. Whether she knew or not, she shoulda

      • Following your logics, should we then extend those principles to the Police Commissioner as well? So if one or more of the his subordinates are arrested for fraud or killing innocent civilians, then he, as the Leader of the force, should be held accountable since he knew that some of his officers have the propensity to commit such acts……right? I’m just “Testing” to see if what you said can past the smell “Test”………….

      • Another “test” of your “logic”: your child (God forbid) stabs one of his classmates with his pencil – I take it, from your “logic” that the Police should haul you off to jail.

I maintain that the issue is what the Leader does after becoming aware of a matter. Leaders (good or bad) are humans, you know.

  3. The pnp has been parting since last year. It is pnp power not people power. In the 70s Manley’s wife bought clothing from foreign countries and she encouraged poor black people to live a modest life. The pnp loves the pnp not the stupid poor people who voted for them

  4. I’m really not sure what the big deal is. Were any of the trio (a minister dealing with children, a junior minister and a minister dealing with science) important for the IMF deal? If not, why the hoopla over them taking vacation? Does anyone know if they spent government money to go to Trinidad for carnival or used their own personal savings? If the latter, again what is the big deal? After all if they spent their own money to take vacation (and I don’t remember there being any law against government ministers taking vacation whether they be from the pnp or jlp) then what’s the deal? I remember government ministers spending money to go to parties in Jamaica in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, etc. I even remember some going on vacations to go bird shooting and that causing an upset. Not sure why it did really. It seems as if Jamaicans expect their governments to be engaged in slave labour or something and not take time off like normal people.

And It certainly isn’t as if they were the only three Jamaicans over there partying. A LOT of Jamaicans were there instead of being at home taking “bitter medicine”. Those who couldn’t afford to go in the best of times would not have gone now anyways, and those who didn’t want to go would not have gone either.

Much ado about nothing it seems.
