PNP’s tax package set to push inflation to double digits !

The return of the PNP to governance has come with it the following:

  1. Slide in the value of the Jamaica dollar( devaluation)
  2. Higher food prices. (CPI)
  3. Movement of wealth (what little is left) from the poor to the rich.
  4. Inflation moving again back into double digits.

Guess what the IMF is happy with the government. In its latest article IV review the IMF said.

The current favorable political environment provides an opportunity to address the significant macroeconomic imbalances and rising vulnerabilities, and Directors welcomed the authorities’ progress in developing a comprehensive economic program.

I am therefore left to ask the obvious question, where does the interest of the people of Jamaica fit into the picture, considering that the IMF has rarely helped to improve the economic enviroment and the lives of the people in any country that is has sought to provide  support .

I am therefore worried that this new deal that is being worked out between the present government and the IMF, will not only see an even faster rate of devaluation, but prices will continue to rise,  so will the inflation rate, making  the lives of the poor and middle class in Jamaica that more difficult and as a result increase the poverty rate.

Pickersgill says PNP received US$1M from Olint, PSM says ” I have no knowledge”

Robert Pickersgill reported today that he has unearth evidence that the PNP received US$1M from now convicted fraudster, David Smith.

Bobby was however quick to point out that at the time the party received the money Olint was a legally operating business, which had even sponsored such event as the Jazz Festival and as such he had no evidence at time to suggest that Olint was anything other than a legitimate business”.

Bobby further pointed out that the money was placed in an account, which was being handled by a Junior party representative, who shall remain nameless. ( I find this rather odd and suggest to me that Bobby is lying, but then again, what’s new)

When the party leader Portia Simpson Miller was asked for a response, she indicated that she was not aware of the latest report and she had not yet been briefed by the party chairman. She then directed the reporter to direct further questions to the party chairman who had been interview earlier. Her actual response was ” Go ask the person who you interviewed earlier today”.

This response by the party leader is reminiscent of her retort ” Go ask the PNP”, when she was asked about the Trafigua money.

PSM continues to take a hands off approach to leadership and instead and taking the bull by the horn keeps directing our lazy media personnel to other in the party. Our journalist must come better than this and hold the Prime Minister feet to the fire instead of lapping their tail and stop asking the tough questions that needs to be answered.

We nah give it back
