LIAT Airlines continue to do a disservice to its passenger, as not only are the fares extremely high, the quality of the service leaves a lot to be desired.
The latest incident if blantant disregard for its passengers occurred this past Wednesday ( 6/6/2012), when I turned up at the RLB Airport to get a flight from St Kitts to St Maarten and connect with Caribbean Airlines in St Maarten to Jamaica.
We were simply told the flight was cancelled end of story and they could book the group of us on the 11:00am LIAT into St Maarten. This of course would not work given the fact that this flight would get into St Maarten just about the time CAL was scheduled to leave.
When questioned on the reason for the cancellation we were simply told, its either no crew of no plane, can you believe that. My own investigation suggest a strong correlation between the decision not to fly and low load factor and not what we were told.
The sad thing about this cancellation is the next CAL flight that we can get unto leaves out of Antigua on Friday and does not get you into Jamaica before 4:30pm, which is the close of the business day.
Caribbean travel is indeed a nightmare and one just has to hope and pray when when you try to get into the Eastern Caribbean, not serviced by CAL, you actually have flight as a confirmed ticket means nothing to LIAT ( Leave Island Any Time).
BWIA renamed CAL has come a long way from.
Bound to Wait in Airport
But Will It Arrive
Better Walk If Able.
